Daddy O Mentioned in the NY Times!!
From the 9.9.11 issue
We headed for Long Beach Island, a string-shaped barrier island 18 miles long, and at its narrowest point about 400 yards wide; you can walk from the bay to the ocean in a minute or so. We stayed at Daddy O, a 22-room boutique hotel and restaurant about a half-block off the ocean in Brant Beach that is hip and modern (it has a sister hotel in Miami). It doesn’t quite match the surrounding scruffy beach condos and salt-bleached cottages, but it seemed like heaven to us.
Long Beach Island is a homey, no-frills vacation spot, but somehow it is also home to Daddy O (4401 Long Beach Boulevard, Brant Beach; 609-361-5100; daddyohotel.com), a sleek, well-appointed hotel (doubles from $280 in high season) with a first-rate restaurant, decorated in muted reds and black. Try mussels in a curry coconut sauce and crab croquettes for appetizers; entrees include tomato-crusted local fluke on tomato-crab-pearl pasta, and smoked jalapeño and corn purée. About $140 for two.

A nice mention about us on NewJerseyCraftBeer.com
daddy O Hotel & Restaurant’s general manager Pete Palladino, formerly of sister property, the Plantation, Harvey Cedars NJ, summed up his philosophy to craft beer very simply : “I’d rather have two really outstanding beers than like seventeen, that…”. You can guess the rest. “If I love the list, then I hope other people will as well.” True to his sentiments, the bar’s eclectic mix offers something for both the mainstream and craft beer drinker.
Two taps are currently offered, Long Trail Double Bag and Yard’s Philly Pale Ale, but more are available in the busier summer months, and they’re frequently rotated to reflect seasonal selections. Bottled craft variety is excellent, I tried a Breckenridge Autumn Ale, a fine choice for an unseasonably warm winter day (no complaints). Other selections available : Allagash White Ale, Anchor Steam Summer, Avery IPA, Dogfish Head 60 and 90 Minute IPA, Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter, Flying Fish Pale Ale, Rogue Dead Guy, Stone Arrogant Bastard and Stone IPA, Terrapin Hopsecutioner, Weyerbacher Old Heathen Stout,. Current seasonal bottles : Troegs Mad Elf, Weyerbacher Autumn and Flying Fish Exit 4 Belgian Triple.
Very good craft beer selections are available, the staff and management are welcoming, bartender Sara was smart, gracious, articulate and well-informed about craft.
daddy O is very much worth checking out for the discerning beer drinker. Happy hour daily from 4 to 7 p.m. daddy O’s is located at 4401 Long Beach Blvd, Brant Beach on Long Beach Island and online too.
