BOUTIQUE HOTEL BRINGS CITY CHIC TO THE JERSEY SHORE!
Philadelphia, PA (May 10, 2007) – It’s cool! It’s contemporary! It combines stylish sophistication with the shore! It’s Daddy O … the new 22-room boutique hotel, restaurant and bar with spacious outdoor garden dining and a full liquor store offering Daddy O to Go! As seen in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, Daddy O is situated on one square block in Long Beach Island, only one-half block from the ocean, there is a rooftop sun deck furnished with teak chaises and chairs, offering views of the ocean and bay.
This new hip hotel makes visiting the shore an exciting retreat for people with luxurious tastes. From lounging on the sun deck to strolling on the sandy beach to savoring contemporary American Cuisine in Daddy O’s stylish restaurant, guests will feel relaxed and pampered. Perfect for a weekend escape in any season and ideal for weeklong visits to the shore, Daddy O is convenient for New Yorkers, Philadelphians and residents of Connecticut and Northern New Jersey. Daddy O is located at 4401 Long Beach Boulevard in the Brant Beach section of the island.
Boasting a modern, urban chic interior, the year-round hotel is appointed with flat screen televisions and wireless Internet connections in each guest room, along with luxurious amenities including ultra plush mattresses, fine linens, and rain showers in the marble and natural wood decorated baths. Presented by an award-winning team that includes Marty Grims, proprietor, Brian Sabarese, general manager/partner, Al Vanesko, executive chef/partner, and Executive Chef Zachary Grainda, this seaside escape has been designed in the sophisticated style guests would expect on vacation.
Marty Grims, who began his career as a member of the opening team of the Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia, shares his enthusiasm about Daddy O. “We’re excited about Daddy O,” he says.
“For people who don’t own homes at the shore, it’s hard to find a place to stay that fits their lifestyle. People are well-traveled and more sophisticated so we decided to design up to people’s tastes and offer a new level of sophistication at the beach.”
And, with the shore in mind, Daddy O offers simple luxury. Grims adds, “The whole point of a vacation is to get away from the fast pace and relax. So our concept is a marriage of the past and present. The past representing simpler times, and the present incorporating modern-day tastes, influences and luxuries.”
To complement Grims’ goals, award-winning designer Barbara Bolangue has added richness not usually found in shore hotel rooms. She describes the use of color and accessories in the rooms. “The chocolate accent colors in the faux Mink pillows and throws on all the beds are a sharp contrast to the neutral, streamline beige and taupe palette. The wall coverings are embedded with sparkling Murano glass, and the headboards and nightstands are custom built in lacquer mahogany with mirrored stainless steel accents.”
The entire property reveals a keen attention to detail and style – from the streamlined hallways with “runway” style wall mounted led light fixtures to the distinctive glass-enclosed wine cellar linking the restaurant to the hotel lobby. Guest rooms feature contemporary wall sconces offering incandescent and halogen options at the bedside, and the ivory colored leather furniture and ottomans have been used throughout the lobby areas and the rooms.
Outside, the vintage seashore architecture is visible in the cedar shingles, red roof, white board and batten-like, old-time construction with a wrap around porch. There is a rooftop sun deck with ocean and bay views. The deck is available for hotel guests as well as private parties and receptions.
The team that has created Daddy O is accustomed to receiving the AAA Four Diamond Award and being included on the Mobil Dining Guide. Grims’ group of food establishments include Plantation in Harvey Cedars, also on Long Beach Island, and Philadelphia’s Moshulu, the world’s oldest and largest tall ship that has been converted into a breathtaking restaurant with award -winning cuisine. This year, the ship was named one of Northeast America’s Top 15 Restaurants by noted food critic, John Mariani. Du Jour Café and Market is another successful operation of this team, located on the Philadelphia Main Line in Haverford, PA. Until this past year, they operated Passerelle and Bravo Bistro on the Main Line, which was recognized as one of Philadelphia’s Ten Best Restaurants in Gourmet Magazine. Grims also co-owns Tango Bar and Grill in Bryn Mawr, PA and Basil in Paoli, PA.
Daddy O is a unique addition to the Jersey shore. Its vintage and retro seashore exterior is combined with a contemporary interior decor, reflecting the hotel’s elegant simplicity. Daddy O is located at 4401 Long Beach Boulevard. For additional information, visit or call 609-494-1300.
